Winchester Sport and Leisure Park project completed

In Winchester, a large all-around sports center was built, of which about half is equipped as a swimming pool, in the rest indoor sports can be practiced and there is a section equipped as a gym. Variopool installed two movable floors, a vertical bulkhead, and a disabled platform there. We started the dry assembly process at the end of last year and the pool is scheduled to be in use at the end of May 2021.

State-of-the-art swimming pool in Winchester

We carried out this project on behalf of Willmott Dixon for the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park. This state-of-the-art new leisure center was designed by LA architects and features a 50m 8-lane pool, an instructional pool (20 x 10 meters), and a water zone where children can get used to the water. Variopool B.V. supplied the movable pool floors and bulkhead technology for this brand-new center.

The 50-meter competition pool is equipped with a Variopool B.V movable pool floor (23.5 x 19 meters) and a 19-meter vertical bulkhead. The instruction pool is equipped with a movable floor of 20 x 10 meters including various accessibility accessories such as an integrated staircase set and a wheelchair-accessible elevator platform. Our movable floor technology will have a huge positive impact on the functionality and usability of these pools. The movable floors and bulkheads will allow the pool operator Everyone Active – SLM to schedule a variety of programs/lessons for everyone within the local community. When the pools are not in use and the floors are raised to deck level this will also significantly reduce the energy consumption of these pools.
